About Us

Creators of handmade jewellery

At Seed Jewellery we create handmade necklaces, bracelets and earrings using semi-precious gemstone beads and unique glass, ceramic and mixed metal elements. We take inspiration from the colours and beauty of the natural environment all around us. Each piece is designed to reflect your individual uniqueness and brighten your day with a splash of beautiful colour.

We specialise in full length 108 bead semi-precious gemstone mala bead necklaces, as well as half and three quarter length necklaces for shorter meditations and everyday wear. When you wear a mala through the day it not only looks great, but is also a lovely gentle reminder of your daily focus.

All our malas are hand-knotted so they drape beautifully and each bead can be handled separately during meditation. We use only high quality gemstones and other handmade jewellery focal elements such as lampwork glass guru beads and silver spacers. These are sourced from talented artisans in Australia and overseas.

Meet the maker

From small seeds, great things grow.

Hi, I am Justine – the designer and maker behind Seed Jewellery. This is my bead story.

I fell in love with beads and jewellery making as a child when I discovered ‘The Covent Garden Bead Shop’ on London’s eclectic Neal Street. Sadly, it is no longer there. The wooden trays filled with colourful beads and shiny findings caught my imagination and I would happily spend my pocket money there at any opportunity. I was devastated to discover that I was actually allergic to the predominantly nickel findings and my handmade jewellery hobby went into hiatus. (sidenote: You won’t find any nickel used at Seed Jewellery.)

Many years passed before I rediscovered my passion for making jewellery after moving to beautiful Melbourne in the 1990s. Over the last 20 or so years I’ve made jewellery predominantly for myself, family and friends. Life is busy though, and my love for creating jewellery frequently went on the back burner.

But times have slowed down recently. Whilst the world has been in the grip of a global health pandemic we have all spent more time at home. I’ve had plenty of opportunity to meditate, take long walks in nature, cook wonderful meals and of course make jewellery again.

I create each item of Seed Jewellery with love and positive energy. The process of hand-knotting gemstones is a meditative practice for me. I hope you will enjoy wearing my necklaces and bracelets as much as I enjoy creating them.

Please enjoy browsing through the store and don’t hesitate to contact me with any questions.
